Orleans/Ottawa                      

September 1990 Approx 7:30pm

Orleans, Ontario, mid-evening (still light) September 1990. I was driving on Orleans Boulevard - a busy suburban street - when I noticed very bright, stadium-style lights just above the trees in Heritage Park, about 25 meters off the road to my right. I thought the city must have put new lights in as the park was just being developed. It drew my eye further upward where I saw a very large house-width, disc-shaped object floating above the trees. Completely silent and apparently not moving, and with brilliant, rotating lights around its lower edge. I slowed down to a crawl and watched it move, still slowly, along the tree line. Because it was so strange and so obvious, I looked around at other cars to see if anyone else was slowing down. No one seemed to notice it, which I found really odd. I crawled along beside it until the road diverged away from it. Within a few seconds of taking my eye away from it, it had moved higher and much farther away - much too far and too quickly for any normal machine - until it disappeared. I have no idea what it was, but I'd been close enough to see clearly that it wasn't a plane, helicopter or balloon.
