The witness writes:


After putting the garbage out at 1.00 am this morning I went into the backyard.

At 1.05 am July 31, 2013--I looked towards the north and saw what I thought was a plane coming in on final to Munro, not unusual for some nights and they come over quite low. I immediately realized the lights were wrong for a plane, they were all the same colour, a glowing pearly white colour with no "shine" almost like small globes.

The configuration was V at first. They were travelling quite quickly, smooth rate of speed, consistent altitude, consistent straight line travel, steady V formation, completely silent from roughly N.W. I had a sense the altitude to be about 1,500 feet. The rate of travel was slightly faster than the typical "on final" approach speed of airliners when they do pass overhead here. The sensation was of smooth, powerful silent flight.

As they passed directly overhead, they shifted formation from V to 4 in line equally spaced, 1 stayed to the side. Spontaneously the single unit shot vertical straight up and became star like at very high altitude, the ascent was virtually performed in no time flat, it then "light intensified" very briefly to a very, very bright light (like a bright flash) then extinguished immediately.

The 4 in line continued their line of travel towards the escarpment, they shifted and became 3 in line with one replacing the side position of the departed one.

The location of the sighting Ellington Ave / Hwy 8.

I lost sight almost immediately because of a large tree in neighbours yard. The whole incident lasted perhaps 10, 15 seconds.

Realizing it/they had not been an aircraft or anything else I am aware of... was quite unsettling.
