"In the early morning of July 10, 2012 I saw a strange flash in the sky.It was 1:30 am and I had just turned West on highway 2 towards Trenton from Wallbrige Loyalist road. I had travelled on this route for appx 1 km when I noticed a flash, more specifically I noticed the trees and road had turned orange very quickly and as soon as it happened the light retracted towards the south west to a white point of light that was just above the tree line over the bay of Quinte. The whole process took no more than a second but Like a good lightning strike, the one you see clearly you don't forget. after the orange light had retracted the point of light disappeared. As I continued driving I thought I perceived several other flashes ( white only this time) at 2 minute intervals, though admittedly I didn't get any good views of these ones, more just ambient as opposed to direct. Upon reaching my destination in Trenton I noted that a 4 engine prop plane took off and headed for the bay, minutes later a smaller 2 prop plane took off and did the same. The first flash was confirmed by a co worker who was in Belleville at the same time although he didn't see the other flashes. I also learned that at the same time, the power at half the Canadian forces base had gone out. I don't know what I saw, I didn't see it for enough time to take a picture/video. Being near cfb Trenton it could have been any number of things but it was strange enough to report."
