"I wish I had recorded the date when this happened.It may have been the summer of 1989,1990 or even 1991.I was at a friend's cottage on Paudash Lake just south of Bancoft,ON.My boyfriend(now husband)and I were in a canoe out on the northern section of the lake,I'm guessing it was early afternoon.It was a sunny day.I think I noticed it first as I was facing North towards my husband at the time and it was behind him in a general North-Easterly direction.A smallish orb shaped craft was 'flying' roughly above or near HWY 28 or maybe just East of the HWY(I think they may have changed the HWY# since then but it is the main one into Bancroft from Paudash and runs close to the shore of the eastern edge of the lake.I saw a dark lead coloured sphere moving perpendicular to us in the distance travelling in a southernly direction.It was a hot slightly hazy day and it was through that light haze that it was moving.I pointed it out my husband and he said it had to be a plane.The haze made us think that it was blurring it and obscuring the wings.We discussed this as we observed it flying about the speed of a small plane and I distinctly recalled asking where are the wings? We were both straining to see them thinking it had to be an aircraft.As it got closer it became more distinct and we could clearly see that it didn't have any!You could now make out more detail.There was a band slightly protruding like a belt around it's middle.Within this flashed multi coloured lights in a counter clock wise direction.They pulsated as they very quickly lit up brighter as they travelled within the band.They were roundish coloured discs-maybe 3 or 4 colours altogether all in a repeating pattern.I can't recall exactly the colours but I do remember a cobalt blue,white and maybe a green or red.I would call them jewel tones.These flashed sequentially around the sphere disappearing as it went around the other side of the sphere.The object was not shiny-more like pencil lead and appeared to be a very dull non reflective metal.There was no vapour trail behind it.By the time it passed us and was slightly south of us, it was clear this was no ordinary plane.At that exact moment of realization for both of us, it suddenly took off on a very steep angle with huge acceleration.There was no sound or fire, nor an obvious propulsion system that could be seen.We watched-mouths probably hanging open-as it took off.It was a mere dark pinprick in a few seconds and we lost sight of it.The whole episode lasted about 35-45 seconds I think.We spoke of this to no one.Really didn't know what to do.Is there a 911 for UFO sightings??!! So we filed it away in the 'that was weird' part of our brains.I can say based on it's extraordinary acceleration that it was not of this earth.It went from a leisurely speed to instantaneous rocket speed without a sound, that is not possible within man made aviation technology that we are aware.If it was an experimental craft from the military, why was it being tested in broad daylight?"
