Callander ON            

October 9th approx 8pm

As driving east toward home, noticed blinking red light in eastern sky. Object appeared to hover, climb and decend very rapidly. As a flight instructor, I am very used to observing aircraft in flight, this moved unlike anything I have seen. This appeared to climb at several thousand feet per minute verticaly, then decend just as fast and return almost instantly to a hover with little or no visible deceleration. After arriving home and continuing to observe the object, myself and the other witness began to drive toward the object in a car to investigate. Parked in a nearby field, we witnessed it continued hovering stationary for aprox 5 min before travelling northward at aprox 200+ kts and disappearing over the horizon.
