Timmins ON

June 1995 - 3am

I'm pretty sure what I saw wasn't a U.F.O., but I don't know what it was.  It  was in June of 1995 and I was staying in the local hotel as I had left my  fiancee a few months before and was getting back on my feet.

My room was  on the second floor and faced west; at night if everybody turned off their  outside lights you could see a vast expanse of the sky and an incredible view of the stars and the Northern Lights. I've always had trouble falling asleep  but the summer of '95 was worse because I was five
months pregnant and the  baby seemed to get active right when I was trying to catch some shut-eye.

One night I had all my lights turned off and was just gazing out the open window at the stars. It was a clear, beautifully cool night.  I didn't have a phone, and the lobby entrance of the hotel is locked at night  so my friends used to either throw rocks at my window or climb up the fire escape and knock if they wanted to visit at night.  My friends and I were young (early twenties) and on our own for the first time so we always kept weird hours, going for walks at 2:00 am if we wanted to.

It was about 3:00 in the morning and I saw my friend walking down the street (another night owl) on her way home from a friend's house. She saw me up in the window and waved.  So, we were just chatting away quietly and we  both remarked on what a beautiful night it was.  I told her to look at all  the stars, and for about a minute we both gazed up at the sky.  Suddenly, there was this really weird light; like somebody had just turned on a flashlight in the sky but it was more of a wispy blob shape.  It looked  pretty far away and yet somehow close at the same time. It wavered for about 30 seconds, then it looked as if somebody pulled a black curtain over it or  closed a door in the sky, from the left to the right, and it was gone.  Neither one of us said anything for a minute, and then I cautiously asked, "Did you just see something?" My friend got kind of panicky then and said  "Yes! What the hell was that!" I said "I don't know, but I'm going to bed!" So she left in quite a hurry and continued home.  I went down in the lobby and used the pay phone to make sure she got home okay. We never spoke of it again, as if speaking about it would make it come back.

Our personal thanks to the witness for the above report.
