Pike River Ontario Strange Light Event Late 80s or early 90s

UFO details report: This happened in the the late 80's early 90's I was fishing on a river on the Bruce Peninsula called Pike River which ran between Isac Lake and Boat Lake. West of Wiarton Ont. east of Sauble Beach. It was around 12-1 a.m. and very dark. I was on the bank of the river beside the old unused bridge facing south. Suddenly the area around me was lit up to the point were I could clearly see ever thing around me for about 50 yards in every direction but nothing beyond that. Looking up I saw what appeared to be a boiling colours of lights that was so close I could see nothing else, filled the sky above me.No sound, crickets and frogs and all wild life complete silence. Staying calm I told my young nephew to come close. Lasted for about 5 minutes then moved away as a column of light to the north and rose up that would be plane height and rising, it faded into the distance. The beam of light flickered like an aurora but had no origin and did not go to the ground when it moved away. There was never a sound made when this happened.

In further correspondence the witness stated: It was like a spot light directly above me completely turning a fifty yard area or more around me lit up so to clearly to view everything around me like day light. No sound no movement above and looking up it looked like to make a simple comparison, looking into a pot of boiling water with colours in it but the colours did not mix together, does that make sense. It filled the area above me to the extent that I could see nothing else. When it did move away it rose quickly and zig zagged away to the north, appearing to be a uniformly suspension of column of lights, hesitating for a split second before changing direction. I have lots of education behind me and was a professional all my life and my educated guess is that it was some rare form of aurora. I believe there might be a scientific reason to what occurred that night but if there is one I would be extremely anxious to know it because since that event I have researched every avenue of natural light phenomena and there has been nothing close to what I experienced that night. If there is anyone in that area that has seen something similar I would like to talk to them."
